For immediate release Verizon Wireless to Develop Flash Mobile Ecosystem in North America Verizon Wireless and Adobe Forge Alliance to Deliver Flash-Based Content and User Experiences

BEDMINSTER, N.J. and SAN JOSE, Calif. — April 5, 2006 — Adobe Systems Incorporated (Nasdaq:ADBE) today announced a strategic alliance with Verizon Wireless to start a mobile ecosystem built around Flash® technology at will allow developers to create new interactive mobile content experiences for Verizon Wireless customers. Through this agreement, Verizon Wireless is expected to become the first wireless operator in North America to introduce Flash enabled handsets that use the technology to deliver a customized user experience. Developers will be able to create and offer new rich content, applications and data services based on Flash and targeted at these handsets. At Verizon Wireless we recognize that an exciting and simple to use mobile experience will accelerate customer adoption of new data services now offered across our network," said John Stratton, vice president and chief marketing officer for Verizon Wireless. The powerful combination of Verizon Wireless and Adobe will enable the mobile developer community and content providers to target new handsets from the leading wireless operator, utilizing the design and development environments of choice for millions of designers and developers around the world - Adobe® Creative Suite and Macromedia® Studio from Adobe. Using these industry standard creative tools, the development community can express their creativity and bring engaging mobile experiences to Verizon Wireless subscribers. Flash Player 7 Support
Flash Lite 2 is based on the Flash 7 standard for content. This means that content developed in the latest Flash authoring environment can be re-purposed for mobile and consumer electronic devices.

Dynamic XML Data
Flash Lite 2 supports loading and parsing of external XML data in Flash content using the same XML handling methods as Flash Player 7.

Persistent Data
Flash Lite 2 supports the ability to locally store and retrieve relevant, application-specific information such as preferences, high scores, usernames, etc. This provides a much more robust development environment.

Powerful and Dynamic Media
Flash Lite 2 enables dynamic loading of multimedia content such as images, sound and video, based on supported codecs available on the device. This includes loading and handling XML data and SWF content. Flash Lite 2 also provides video support and external multimedia support. This includes in place video as well as image loading (gif jpeg, png w/ transparency) and audio loading.
